So I just took the head to the machine shop to be resurfaced. The head was warped so they took off .008in. As far as I know the block or head has never had any material taken off other than what I just did, but I don’t know for sure. My question is what head gasket should I use? Should I use a stock or oversized? Thanks

So long as the valve head depth is within spec, the standard gasket should be fine.

I've read some threads suggesting a thicker gasket may be warranted for high boost and timing advance. If you're building in that direction anyway.... may want to go a thicker because you're a few thou' tighter now.

It is in the Cummins manual..039 min to .060 max.
As these do not have a combustion chamber in the head there is no difference in compression.. Is this a 4 or 6? The 4 is a max warp of .008 before requiring surfacing and the 6 .012.

Rethink that... the gasket thickness itself is contributing to the compression/combustion space.

No disputing the head gasket contributes to the compression ratio but the reference was in relation to selecting a gasket after skiming the head. Skiming the head has mariginal effect apart from reducing the valve pocket volumes.
