Hey guys, I figured it was about time to tell a little story of how I got my first (current) cummins & see what yalls thoughts and suggestions might be.. (skip to the *** if you dont care about how i ended up getting a free 89 D250)

The company that I work for sent our (new at the time) regional managers to town to meet everyone in the Tulsa branch. The regional managers invited everyone to the HardRock Casino for dinner & drinks after work. Well long story short, I ended up driving one of the regional managers to the HardRock due to the other regional guy taking their rental car to tour one of our vendors sites.

We get to the HardRock and meet up with everybody in the downstairs bar. Next thing you know, we're getting in an elevator & going up to the 19th floor! When the elevator doors open, we stepped right into what had to have been the fanciest restaurant that I've ever, personally, been inside during my 22 years on this planet. ( Keep in mind, I'm still in my dirty, grease covered work clothes).

Feeling completely out of place & under-dressed, we all sat down and order our drinks & steaks (which each cost more than a full tank of diesel). One of our salesmen had invited a potentially big customer to dinner also, as I later found out.

The salesmen did their whole sales pitch and got to know the potential customer (which I wasn't paying too much attention to, I was still trying to grasp how much that hunk of beef flesh on my plate cost vs what I make an hour).

Fast forward through all the rest of the fancy dining experience & we end up back at the bar on the first floor. After a while (and quite a few drinks), the business talk settled down and everyone starts to have non-business related conversations.

Somehow, when I was talking to one of our regional guys, I had got onto the topic of my high school dream build (converting my 85 El Camino to a 4x4 12valve powered monster). As soon as i mentioned 12 valve, the potential customers head snapped towards us & he said he had a 12 valve that i could have ( haha yeah, for $4k, i thought to myself).

Anyways, it turns out he was serious! I got his phone number & we discussed it some more throughout the week. turns out they were moving to oklahoma from texas and his wife wouldnt let him take it with them. He said if i came & picked it up i could have it.

You best bet, I called my buddy up (I currently dive a g35 coupe... hope you dont think any less of me now) and that weekend we hooked his truck up to the gooseneck & took a little trip down to texas.

I hadnt seen the truck yet so i was expecting the worst, but to my surprise, it wasnt too bad at all! minor cosmetic stuff & a leaking injection pump, but it ran as good as can be! (you know, besides puking a little bit of diesel fuel)

So we loaded it up, thanked him & hauled it back to my buddys place! Its been there ever since.

P.S. as soon as I drove the truck, I knew I couldnt just yank the engine & trans out and plant it in the camino.....ill have to find another 12v for that...after this truck build.

Specs: 1989 D250 Flatbed, 727 trans, truck is completely stock (other than 4" exhaust)

I'm currently stockpiling parts for it for the next time I am able to work on it. My plans are to make this a daily driver, not much towing. Would love to hear yalls input/ideas.

WHAT I HAVE SO FAR:

DennyT stage 2 fuel pin

3200 gov spring

Injecton Pump re-seal kit

Injection pump wrench

ISSPRO Tach & magnetic pickup kit

(2) bht3b's (they were cheap & who knows, maybe compound set up in the future?)

hx35

4" straight pipe
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wish List:

Boost Gauge

Pyro Gauge

Gauge pods (suggestions?)

Moog front end springs (maybe)

Some sort of intercooler (suggestions? cxracing kit? other options?)

Crazy Carls Throttle linkage

Tires (suggestions on relatively inexpensive/decent quality tires? 16" wheels)

47RH or NV4500 swap (wishful thinking, would be nice though.)

Wow, this is just an amazing story and I am grateful to you for sharing this with us. I would be just happy if I were so lucky too. I don’t know why, but fortune doesn’t like me at all. I can’t even withdraw money from casino accounts. Yes, I started to get involved in gambling and it seems to me that this is pretty promising, but the problem is that there is a lot of fraud in this area. Now I decided to approach this issue more responsibly and started new Asian casinos with an excellent reputation. I already found some great variants and it can help me make money through gambling.
