Hey guys, it's getting cold and I am having grid heater issues. I've had issues in the past so right now I have it on a manual momentary switch. They had been working fine and the other day I think I smoked the relay. Put a new relay in it. You can hear the new relay clicking, so I'd assume there working. And I know the top grid gets hot. But isn't there 2 grids? Is there a chance the grid itself is bad?

How far does your volt gauge pull down when the engine isn't running?

Have you looked at the description of the grid heaters and the wire diagrams in the factory service manual? Have you checked for voltage and/or continuity when you hear the relay click? And yes, heating elements sometimes fail.
