Hey I have a 91 w250 with 3.07's in a d61. I've got a 3 series carrier (3.54) that is a 2 pinion clutch type posi. Is it possible to take my 3.07 ring gear and put it on that 3.54 posi and install it? Or is the distance from the side bearing to the ring gear flange different? If so does anyone know how much??

The 3:07 carier is the same as the 3:54 carrier.

Click this link. Then scroll down to the pic of a carrier. It gives the way to determine if the carrier is a 3 or 4 series. The 3:08 carrier I measured once was a 3 series. That carrier is now installed in a 3:54 front axle.

Two pinion carrier is a track lock model.
