Got a squeak. Mice?

1115 15
Driving in gear, sometimes when I let off the throttle I can hear a slight squeak that goes away when I press the clutch in.

Kinda runs in tune with the engine.

Can't really hear it unless you're driving past a concrete barrier on the passenger side.

Looked underneath, can't see anything that looks bad.

What's the best way to check universals or the carrier bearing other than a sight test?

Put the truck and xcase in neutral with the rear wheels blocked off?

Clutch and throw out/pilot are new.

Anyone have something similar?

No noise at idle, engaged or disengaged.

Yeah, 40mph or above I think.

Was leaning towards universal or carrier - but don't really know how to check them beyond visual.

It's a very slight squeak. Can't hear it in the cab with the windows up.

Almost sounds like brakes.

I rolled past a barrier to get the echo and disengaged, engaged, disengaged.

Only does it in gear or clutch disengaged.

Wouldn't hurt to change ujoints anyways. There pretty easy if you have the right tools. I've never done a hanger bearing though. Do your joints have grease zerks?

take the rear drive shaft out and put it in gear and see if the carrier bearing makes a noise.you can run it through the gears.

My 3500 did this and it was a ujoint. I changed them and it magically went away. I would drop the shaft and check for loose our stuff joints. The one that was squeaking in mind was the rear and it was extremely stiff.
