Hey all,
I'm picking up a new-to-me 2016 in the next week or so and the only thing I know I'll need to do soon is a new set of tires. I'm stepping up from a half-ton Ram and have always had luck running Goodyear Wranglers but wondered if anybody here could share some thoughts.
Here's what I'm looking at.
If you've run Wranglers before, let me know how you found them.
Thanks in advance

I havent had those yet. I'm a Toyo guy but theyve let me down the last few set so i switched to duratracs. i know a guy that has a 2022 2500 gasser that he put those on and loves them more then the duratracs and he hauls two quads on a deck plus his surveying gear

I just ordered a set of these yesterday for my Trail Hawk. The first set are at 25K and still have 4/32 left, time to replace.
I bought a 99 Durango new with Wranglers. 31 10.50 15s. The first set went 45K, and the second set at 90K when I sold it. I considered going Michelins but didn't this time.

great tires. I had those on my 08 mega, decent in the snow, I put just shy of 70K on them when I sold the truck. they still had plenty of life left.
That said i'd be after the continentals or yokohama's if I were in the market for tires today.

The Duratracs are very good in snow. I’ve had two sets on my ram 3500 and specifically run them in the winter instead of true snow tires ( live in the sierra at 6000ft). I tend to get 35k out of them as 50% of my miles are towing a dump trailer or 14k fifth wheel. I replace at ~4/32 They come with 18/32s but seem to get noisy once worn below 8-10 32s. I just replaced a set a few weeks ago with wrangler workhorse ATs. The WH don’t look as good, but are very quiet and just did a 3k mile hunting trip with wet gravel roads and 4-6 inches of snow off-road. They are mountain snowflake. I’m happy with them and they were a few hundred $ less than duratracs I got the WH because I was getting tired of the road noise.

I put a set on my gas gmc truck that I only drive a few times a year. America's Tires was running a special on them so a set of 4 were only $435 out the door. That was last month so maybe check if they're still doing that special in your area. It's also the same tire we run on our fleet vehicles at work so for the price it's a good deal. Just a tire that works, nothing special.

Toyo Open Country are by far the best. I ran a couple of set of Wranglers then went to Duratracs. Duratracs require a lot of rotating at about every 5K miles to get any life out of them and become noisy as they wear. They will also give some side to side swaying when new and towing. Tried Cooper AT3 but was disappointed with the the wear.

Toyo Open County beats all of them.

Take a look at the Cooper AT3 XLT's best AT tire I have run on a truck, and I have run many of them . I believe there is also a $70 rebate on them.
My current tires are Cooper AT3 XLT and I got 21,000 miles on them. They are done and are maypops. I bought them in Oct of 2019. I wish I had got the 50,000 they were suppose to get. I drive a lot of gravel roads so maybe that had something to do with it. I sure cant try them again. I hope I can get something that lasts longer.

So far they have been great . I can tell you right now they will go well beyond 21k , probably half way to 21k now , really no signs of wear , and it would sure be obvious if they were going to go 21k , they would be half gone . They are 60k wear warranty, not 50.

I would sure be talking to whoever you bought them from , and check the warranty out , if they are done at 21k they should prorate, and get another set , something doesn’t sound right on the ones you got . That’s pretty crazy that little of miles . Now Toyos I’d believe it for sure , my last set of Toyos were not that great , no more Toyos . These Coopers were obvious to me right off a much better handling tire than the Toyos , that was the first thing I noticed about Coopers . But from what I can see early on , I’m headed for 40k plus, time will tell . So far very pleased with the Coopers . If they don’t perform like I think they are going to , I’ll try some Falkens .

I have those tires (10 ply) on my '13 2500. They were on my truck when I got it and they have given me good service for over 30k miles. They are not noisy at highway speedsvcompared to BFG KO's and provide similar traction in wet conditions, but not quite as good in mud.
I've found them to be adequate tires for low-speed 4WD driving on loose volcanic rock and decent traction to pull, launch and recover my boat on slimy boat ramps in 2WD. I've pulled my 28' TT (old and darn heavy) a couple hundred miles with them with no complaints.
Although this probably sounds like a glowing review, I've gotten good service from Cooper 10 ply rated Discoverer tires also and they are the brand my tire guy can get me the best deal on.
YMMV

Just the opposite with me , done buying Toyo’s, IMO overpriced, overrated tire . They wore out nearly as fast as those terrible OE Firestone Transforce . I like everything about the Coopers so far , looks , handling etc .

I have had many sets of them with good results. I no longer like the company because of their new polices. Bridgestone TransForce is what I switched to.

Here is the 10 ply version for your truck if 18's $100 more than shown on our page. They are probably OK depending on what use and attributes your are looking for.

I'm running the Continental TerrainContact A/T. They have been an amazing tire and are well priced. They are not 3P (mountain snowflake) rated, but have done great for several winters in Montana where we average 6' of snow per year and do not use salt or chemicals on the roads. I have about 20K on them so far and they are looking to last at least 60K. Nice and quiet on the interstate and look a little more aggressive in person than in the photos. I'd buy these again in a heartbeat. TerrainContact™ A/T

Those wrangler tires are junk. I had sidewall bubbles on some tires and others lost chucks of rubber on tread. Also, all Made in China.

I will never buy another Goodyear. I stick with Michelin, Bridgestone, etc.

I have tried 2 sets of Goodyears over the years, both sets I had the tires shop take them back. On both instances, I felt they were too soft and let the trucks wander. I have had the best luck with BFG Ruggid trail and Michelin LTX. Both easily get 100k out of them depending on how you treat them.

All new tires will exhibit swaying when new until the tires fully cured. Full curing takes miles and time.
