Call a inspection station and tell them you are thinking of buying this truck. Make sure the understand it is a Diesel and it has a turbo and a Cat and then it goes to the back and out the side. Ask them if it is legal. If they say no say "Cool I'll tell the owner he needs to put a muffler on for me to buy" then go and check 2 more stations to verify. Here in Texas the turbo and cat together will let it pass. I don't do it but others do. Do some telephone work and then find you an Old Independent Muffler shop and stay away from the Chain stores. They'll do what you ask and your supporting your local business man.
I'd love to. I could to it myself, but if it won't pass inspection, I'd end up having to put a muffler on anyways. I asked the shop how other guys get away with straigh piping, he said "they prob just take it to a shop who doens't pay any attention, and over look it"
I do like the sound of my Magnaflow. But Farmboy has some nice pricing on some 5 inch that will make'er throaty if that is what your after for just a few bucks more. Go to the "Request a Quote" under the Forum Jump at the bottom and tell them what your after. You will get PM's with pricing for what you asked for.
