I'm getting an Edge EZ for about $100.00. That's about all I can afford to spend on performance right now. Is this a bad choice considering I only get to drive my truck maybe 2-3 times a week if that. I'm just looking for a little extra power for what I can afford to start off considering my truck is bone stock. Any advice? Also I plan on using a Bullydog Outlook monitor for guages untill I can afford to get some real guages.

If we're only spending $100; do you have air intake and exhaust mods? If not I would go that direction 1st. You can do some homemade mods for cheap.

Dont personally care for the Edge EZ as it can increase your rail pressure to not so safe levels. I agree with TCR do an air intake or exhaust first.

I need some advice though so give me what you've got. Also I really baby my truck and try not to use a lead foot. I'm not really looking to roll coal everywhere just a little more pep until I stumble across some cash. I think in the almost 2 years I've owned my truck I've put maybe 5,000-6,000 miles on it.

$100 is a good price for the EZ. You probably will notice a slight increase in performance and MPG but not much. I dont think the gain you get from it is worth the risk especially if your short on cash. The EZ is a pressure box and will put additional strain on your injectors. Some guys have ran them for years others have not had such luck. Not saying dont do it but just want you to realize the risk.

I appricate the input. I had an 03 2500 with the 5.7 HEMI for about 2 years and traded it about 2 years ago for the cummins and would like to keep the cummins for as long as possible. I love this truck. It has about 150,000 on it and I have no clue what kind of shape the motor is really in. Also I don't want to mod my truck to the point where it's impossible for me to pass my yearly emissions test.

Sounds like you got a good truck if its doing good at 150k. Just do regular maintenance and it should last you a long time. The 03-early04 motors hold up pretty well.

If you get the EZ, just run setting 2. I ran setting 3, but with zero interstate driving.

Yep EZ on 3 for a road trip will punish your injectors. BBRam, im not sure about the 03-04's and using the EZ but I can tell you on the 600-610 motors the RP is already pretty high in stock form and the EZ increases that even more. I know the 03-04 motors run a lower RP pretty much across the board expect for WOT. With all the injector problems ive had I guess im just paranoid and trying to prevent someone else from going thru what I did.

Aren't the 03-04's more prone to cracking injector bodies? That would concern me if I were you. I was under the impression that better fuel filtration can help the injectors live longer, but maybe that is just the tips though and nothing to do with the bodies. For a 100 bucks you can't really go wrong, I would just run it on a lower setting to be safe.

I bought my truck with an Edge/W Attitude on it. Is there a difference between the Edge EZ and the one with the Attitude monitor?

I see alot of guys running Smarty, does it raise rail pressure too? Just wondering, I haven't ran my truck above level 3 in fear of the tranny and didn't think about the rail pressure, I didn't realize it pushed it that much higher?

I like my Edge box but if I knew a Smarty was better for my engine, I would think about selling it and getting a Smarty.

There is a big difference between the J/A and the EZ.

Yes, Smarty has the ability to raise rail pressure if desired.

Yes there is a difference. The EZ looks like the edge with juice but doesnt have a display it uses a toggle switch that has three settings. The edge juice will give you up to 6 settings (including HOT) and provide more HP. They both can raise your RP. I have not personally run the edge juice on my truck just the EZ. Im not even sure if the edge juice displays RP. The smarty is adjustable, you can set your RP to stock levels or go up from there.

Sorry, missed this one.

You are correct, the 03/04 rp #'s are much lower across the board than the 600 series. With the exception of WOT as you mentioned.

Example - EZ at setting 3, say 70mph = somewhere in the 18K+ range. Minus the EZ = around 12K.

And also I am under a 2 year limited warranty that will expire at the begining of June. I really only plan at running The EZ on 1....possibly 2 here and there. Any opinion of where I will be ok there?
