Seems like a good price considering how low the miles are on it. The biggest problem with 1st gens seems to be rust issues. So if its got a straight body with the exception of the one fender, $2500 sounds like a decent deal to me.

Id try and get it for 2000. See what gears it has because you probably could get a 307 gear ratio rear eng pretty cheap. Throw in a 366 spring to get your rpms up to 3200 and drive it.

The 727 3 speed is a decent trans and there is lots of mods you can do to it to strengthen it. However verify what gears are in the rear end. It should have 3.07's but if somebody has changed them out for 3.54's or 4.10's, your truck will be screaming down the freeway. If you don't like the auto idea, then pass on this truck and look for a 5 speed.
