Hi i was wondering what my stock gear ratio is on my 01 2500 short bed ext cab.opcorn:

The transmission gearing for NV 4500 is:
1st gear 5.61
2nd gear 3.04
3rd gear 1.67
4th gear 1.00
5th gear 0.74

Axle ratios were 4.56, 4.10, 3.90, or 3.55

The Getrag had
1st gear 5.53
2nd gear 3.02
3rd gear 1.60
4th gear 1.00
5th gear 0.77

with axle ratios of 4.10, 3.55, 3.21,and 3.08

The best thing to do in your case is to go the the dealer with your VIN number and have them print a build sheet. That will tell what it was put together with from the factory

Ya thats what I am wondering???? The only gear ratios I now of that dodge has offered is the 4.10 and 3.55 from 89 to 02 and the 4.10 and 3.73 from 03 to present, with the Cummins.

So your truck should have the 3.55 rear gear. What RPM's are you turning at 75?

The axle ratio should be stamped on the axle somewhere possibly on the diff cover.

a good way to find out the axle ratio is to jack up the rear end, mark the tire and drive shaft with chalk or something. spin the tire and see how many revolutions the ds makes
