Hey guys, new to the 2nd gen side of things. Looking at a '94 regular cab that needs a new cab or a ton of body work. I found a cab off of a 1500 or a good price, are the firewalls different for gas and diesel? Any help would be appreciated.

The tin is the same from 1994 to 2002. The wiring is different between a gas and diesel cab. You may end up changing the dash because of that.

I was wondering about the fit. I figured the dash would be different but it's all in good shape. Price is right for the truck, just going to use it on the farm. I'm glad to hear its been done before.

Nice. Figured it's cheaper than new rockers, floor, cab corners and doors. I'm hoping I can find a decent cab for this thing. The southern Ontario salt has definitely gotten the best of it.

One of the members observed quite awhile ago that gassers were made to keep us supplied with sheet metal. If the 1500 is a '94-'97 the dash will be the same, just the gauge cluster is different (and of course the wiring).

Good to know. Gasses usually die before the sheet metal gets too bad, and the diesel usually outlives the body a few times over. She's a budget build, that's for sure.

I've been looking for parts trucks and so far I've had some luck. A few regular cabs around in ok shape. Would be nice to find one with a box and everything.
