Going to be rebuilding Cummins in a week or two.

I've noticed some people (reputable shops) add some type of sealant/tack on certain gaskets (oil pan, front cover, etc) and others they don't.

Everything in my schooling tells me gaskets go on dry.

What do you guys do/recommend?

Permatex #3 or their High Tack for most gaskets, helps hold them in place while installing, no movement. Light coating only on both metal sides, let tack up, stick on gasket.

ONLY a torque wrench on any gasketed sealed parts. Follow torquing sequence. More damage done by the idiot guessers.
Makes the real shops a fortune in replacing damaged overtighened leaking gaskets.

Who likes leaking oil on their spotless driveway, garage floor.

Head and exhaust manifold gaskets, dry only.

And i only use a torque wrench on damn near every bolt.

Hell, I even chase/tap EVERY bolt holes before I start. Even the 500 oil pain bolts.
