First, my appoligies if this has been covered before.. my searchs havent came up with any answers to my questions so I thought I would just out right ask.

I have a 1999 Dodge 2500 24v auto 4wd, I lost OD and 1st gear and rather than fixing it I would much rather convert to a 5spd. I have covered all local auto wreckers, craigslist, and others to find a diesel nv4500 and have yet to find one. the only nv4500 I have found is for $400 which is out of a 97 2500 dodge gaser, I know I will have to find a diesel belhousing and input shaft which I have located but my question is.. will my tcase from my 47re auto bolt up to a nv4500 out of a gaser?

Also, is swapping input shafts a simple swap in swap out job? and is there anything to service on the nv4500 while its out of the truck?

I would try looking on a junkyard parts site instead of cl. Some of them list parts be location and price. Try www.car-part.com. make sure to put the dash in the name. I have no affiliation with that site but that is how i found my 5speed swap (complete) for cheap. Make sure you find drive shafts as well for the proper t-case the yolk is different from dld to dhd. Just my expierence.

nobody can tell me weather a 241HD bolts up to the back of a nv4500 out of a gas 3/4 dodge trans?

Yes it will.

if it is out of a v10 it will but if it was out of a v8 there might be something diff. you can buy a new nv4500 for $1000 from high gear. make sure you weld that 5th gear nut fast if its the old nv4500.
