I need some help guys. I just pulled the South Bend Dual Disk out of my G56 to upgrade and noticed there is some side to side play in the input shaft. I would say it has about 1/16" play. How much is ok? Guys at SBC told me i need to check it out before i put it back together but i dont know how to get it apart to check the bearing. They said its possible for the bearing to wollow out the aluminum and ruin the tranny. They were not sure how to check it.
Any Input.
Thanks
Jeff H

If I'm not mistaken the bearing is part of the case.

I seem to recall another member trying to get that "pressed bearing" out. Only to realize it was part of the case. Wonder if I can find that guy to see what the deal was. I guess the first question should be if 1/16" is acceptable. I have no idea, but I think it is excessive

Have you talked to a transmission shop? Maybe a parts guy at "cough" the dealer?
