Hey guys I installed a FASS on my 01. I deleted the stock pump on the block and the 2 plugs that went into the stock fuel canister.
Now I have a CEL. I’m pretty sure it’s from this. Stupid me I threw the old pump and filter housing away. I just bag and tapped the ends of the plugs and zip tied them up next to the block.

Any ideas on how to trick the truck into thinking that stuff is still there to get rid of the CEL?
I didn’t think the computer would be smart enough
To know. Just want the light off.

Truck runs and drives fine otherwise.

I unplugged mine and put a block off plate on the block without getting a CEL.

What codes do you have?

I didn’t need a block off plate for anything. I just unplugged the 2 plugs going to the canister filter assembly. Unplugged the stock pump. Took the stock fuel supply line from the tank to the pump on the block all off.
Then I used the filter canister bolts and put some washers in them and snugged them back down on the intake plate.

I took the plugs from the fuel pump and canister and put a bag over them and tapped then tight.

I also installed a quadzilla at the same time.

When I read the codes on my phone with obd fusion app and my wifi dongle it shows no codes. I can force a clear of the CEL. But 2 seconds after I force the clear it’ll come back on.

I didn't need a block off plate, I ran for years with the old pump still there, but while I was doing my tappet cover, I took off the pump.

Instead of the fusion app, try an actual code scanner maybe?

Not sure how good the app scanners are, not saying it's bad, but I don't know how you have a CEL with no codes.

Maybe try shorting the wires together?

Makes sense in my mind that the computer just sees an open circuit.

I’m mostly looking for peoples collective knowledge as to what their truck did when they removed the block mounted pump and filter without the plugs being plugged in.

I appreciate the ideas guys. I’m definitely going to find a better code reader.

I also don’t know if these trucks are smart enough to know if the parts I unplugged are unplugged. I’ve been told mixed opinions on how smart these computers are.

I think I got a code from the Quad for a bit after first startup but went away. You can try the 3 key truck to check codes. Cycle key to run position 3 times and leave it there third time and it will state codes in the odometer.

I’ll try the key trick to check codes.

Yeah in the quadzilla owners manual it states it might display a CEL for a little while. My truck only has 66k on the odometer. The only thing with quad installs I’ve read is that the MAP sensor is finicky. But my engine looks almost brand new so I’d doubt i broke the map on install. But on a 21 year old truck who knows.

I appreciate your ideas and help

Well after getting a few miles on the truck the check engine light went away.
So obviously the stock fuel parts I removed have nothing to do with a CEL.
It must of been the quadzilla. As per the owners manual a CEL might come on a few times on the first key cycles.
