I normally clear 21-23 MPG with my setup...

Every truck will be different. Tire size, 4x4, 2x4, how you drive, mods and ride height all factor in.

Help you out just a little bit...

Final ratio of...

5 Speed is 0.75:1
6 Speed is 0.73:1

Auto is 0.69:1

So either manual tranny is the same...

So anyone with a 4.10 gear setup will do for you...

I respect you knowledge...

But in laymans terms what does this mean?

If I have 4:10's what can I do to increase fuel mileage?

285s are 33s thats running 55mph
2000rpms 65
2200rpms 75
what do you mean 285's are 33's?

Are your tires stock size? I'm confused by the whole thing. JUst trying to figure out how good/bad the mileage would be and what I can do to improve it with mods.

Stock size is a 245/75/16, roughly a 30 in tire. 285/75/16 equals a skinny 33 in tire.

In laysmans terms it does matter if you got a 5 or 6 speed they both twist just as fast in high gear...

If you want good high MPG number is rather simple. If you got both boost and Pyrometer gauges... "keep your boost under 5 PSI and Pyrometer under 600*F and 20+ MPG will happen"

Here is a write up for MPG's for ya...
Better MPG's

stay around 1800rpms and keep boost as low as possible
What was your mileage on the highway?
I was told that putting taller tires would change the ratio
and improve mileage. I am looking at a beautiful truck, but it has 4:10's. I'm buying it as a daily driver, I don't tow or even use as a work truck. Have always wanted one and hate to pass this one up. It's a nice one owner 56K, Medium Bronze with black leather Laramie. It was used by a wealthy women to tow here ponies around.
There is no way for me to improve mileage on this truck with these gears?
