Yesterday the needle on my fuel gauge started twitching back and forth, from full, to three quarters full. This was while I was driving on level pavement. I suspect a short or poor grounding. Has anyone else had this happen and what did you do to fix it? Where is the fuel gauge sensor located on the tank? All replies appreciated.

Well first things first, body ground on the drivers side it's a #10 wire from the neg. battery post up towards the radiator. Remove the screw and then remove the paint under that and reattach. As for the sending unit........ it's in the tank. Other than that, just go through all the wiring.

If you're going to stand on your head and hold your tongue just right to unplug the sending unit then you might as well put some dilectric grease in the "sealed" plug.
