I have been reading a good amount about filtration on this site and have decided to use the basic DIY kits seen on here. Using a Cat Filter 1R-0750
and a Baldwin water/sep BF1212. I was going to mount them together like they did in this thread
http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/tech-article-submission/376796-ctd-2-stage-2-micron-absolute-fuel-filtration-baldwin-cat-under-truck.html

but was also looking into using a Glacier bracket to mount it under the hood. Like in this thread

http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/3rd-gen-powertrain/74928-installing-additional-fuel-filters-gdp-w-cat-2-micron-fuel-water-sep.html

I Will also be doing the big line kit up front as i have most of the stuff laying around. I will also change to a Baldwin PF7977 in the stock location

What would be the better set up and is there an advantage to mounting the fuel filter under the hood? If not I will just mount them together at the back of the truck so they are nice and easy to change.

The lift pump is factory, this will be the first thing I will be doing to the truck (other than removing the muffler) so as of now everything on the truck is stock. I am going to try and find the bracket that they used in that thread if not I'll be making my own this week

So i picked up the 2 filters on friday and today the two heads came in, I went to test fit the filters and screwed the cat filter to the base, it went on great and i just snugged it by hand not tight, and i went to back it off, it came of maybe two spins and then locked up!!!!

I then found one post where this seems to be a common issue. My problem is I got these parts from a local truck center and i supplied the part numbers so i dont know what they will do about it. I was thinking about trying to find a few posts on here that i could bring in to show that im not the only one having trouble but could only find one post. What have you guys that have had this happen done and did the store help you with replacing the parts?

So what started as a easy and simple filter upgrade has become a pain in the butt!

I brought the stuck filter back to the Hoover Truck center i bought it from and pretty much was told that I used a fleetgaurd filter base with a cat filter and since i supplied the part numbers there was nothing they could do for me.

He told me that the filter base that would work is a CAT number: 2802698

Has anyone used this base or able to get any pictures of it? i cant seem to get a picture of it so i can see if it will work. Its also 40 dollars vs 28 for the fleet gaurd
