We just bought a 1998 dodge Cummings. It ran fine during the test drive and for a day after. We brought it home, shut it off for a few hours, then when we got back in it the fuel pressure gauge read 0. It started bucking. So we brought it back, did some research, thought it was the fuel filter. We replaced that and then it started for 2 seconds and now is dead. Any help or advice would be great thanks. Use to working on Fords.

Did you bleed the air out of the fuel filter after you put it on?

Did you also crack the injector lines? Did you prime everything? There's a little primer bulb on the lift pump (not unlike an old lawn mower) and my practice has always been to prime it about 50 times or so after changing a filter. Also how old is the lift pump? Its not uncommon for them to fail. Also, it would be helpful for us for you to have your signature filled out. What year, transmission, miles, mods, etc.

Open the bleeder for the filter and crank it over a couple times to see if fuel squirts out.

If there is fuel then wire or bungee the FSS so it's pulled up all the way and see if it will start.
