Reading through my owners manual for my 2018 I picked up Saturday. In there it says that fuel and oil additives are not recommended. What say the masses on using them? Also anyone using any of these products https://www.hotshotsecret.com/

Thanks all who choose to help out a fellow Cummins owner.

Save your money. Only thing worthy of an additive is to help eliminate gelling in the winter when the fuel is not up to par. RE:cloud point.

I’ve been a fan of Diesel Clean for a long time. I saw some demos done with it, with water in diesel and was impressed. That’s been about 15 years now, so there is probably something better out there these days.

If you are worried about fuel system deposits, just run a tank of fuel with a decent blend of bio diesel. That should do some cleaning.

+1 on keeping a jug of anti gel in the truck. You never know when you will need it. Even if you live in a warm climate. You might go on a road trip up north in the winter and still have summer blend in the tank.

I use Kleen Flo in our heating oil tank occasionally after we got some water/ice in it a few years ago. House furnace loves it.

Whereabouts in NC? Asheville/Boone area gets below freezing regularly in winter. Down near Charlotte, not so much.

I wish the previous owner of my truck used a little fuel additive, maybe it would have saved my CP3 pump and injectors. Or changed the fuel filter a little more often. New Air Dog that was installed should help clean up the fuel a bit.

Filters yes, additive no. Going back to 2007.5 the additives would take the life out of the DPF. Now they are DPF friendly snake oils.

The only thing required for long engine life is good oil and fuel combined with proper filters and serviced according to the maintenance schedule. All the other miracle products are just picking your pocket. In your area you can run 15w40 all year long. There are thousand of discussions on oil brands, so take your pick. There are some questionable low cost fuel filters on the market, just beware. Good luck with your new truck.

I have learned my lesson with cheaping out on parts even filters. I just want a trouble free and worry free ride. That is why I traded in my 05 for the 18.

I believe all fuel in Canada has been mandated to have a minimum of 2% bio; my pallet of SoyShield pails will surely depreciate in value from here on.

And distributor additives vary by province, as per post #31 - https://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/...-important-fuel-additives-3.html#post28677329
