Just bought my first diesel. 2500. Cold weather is here now. I was told to put additive in to prevent fuel from gelling. Is this true and important or are the diesel fuels out here already treated with something. Northern Ohio.

Be safe, add the required amounts when ever your truck will be out in temps below 25 whether you plug it in or not.
That's my colorado high country opinion

If you're not storing summer fuel and using it in winter, it's unlikely you'll have problems. As diesels go, northern Ohio does not get very cold; 30 below about the rare minimum. But, if your concerned you may get some non-winter blend fuel the recommended dose of additive is very cheap insurance.

Get fuel from reputable higher volume stations and you don’t need any. It will all be winter blend. Get it from some back woods mom and pop and take your chances.
