Hey, everyone! Next ACDC kick-back at Fuddrucker's at I-10 and Dunlap is Saturday, April 11th at 6p. I'll be out of town that weekend for Easter, so I'll miss out on the fun diesel chatter (or should that be clatter?) this time around.

For those of you just tuning in, this is a laid-back gathering where you can meet other diesel-lovin' Arizonans, eat, drink, and talk about nothin' in particular

I'm not sure if I will make this one. That evening is the 'very last' race at Manzanita Speedway (35 Ave. & Broadway). They will have open-wheel sprint cars & other races.

Since this is the FINAL race for Manzanita, the tickets will only be $10.00.

For those who may have never gone to Manzanita, it's a rather famous track & has been around since about 1951. I went there the first time in 1969 with my cousins. I had just gotten out of the service & spent the summer in Phoenix visiting my relatives. Was introduced to my first dust storm while sitting in the stands at that track.

It seems that the locals, that moved right next door to a race track, have found the noise & dust to be somewhat objectionable. The track is on 38 acres, right on the corner of Broadway & 35 Ave. Ray Charles & Little Stevie Wonder (both blind) would have been able to tell that there was a race track in the new neighborhood. It does not take a genius to know that there will be exhaust noise & dust in the vicinity of a race track on Friday & Saturday nights. Yet, these people moved in, anyway. Now they are forcing the closure of what has been an institution, here in Phoenix. Some folks are just down right disgusting!!!

There is a lot of history at that track & I, for one, am going to miss it.

So, for that reason I may not be in attendance at the meeting.

There are a bunch of friends and I heading to Speedworld on the 18th for the Northern Arizona Shootout. Lots of people show up for this and a friend of mine usually takes home the fastest street truck with his 351 powered ranger. I'll be running my truck, and a few friends with their D-maxs and Fords. If anyone else is interested in coming out let me know. Its usually a fun time, alot of really nice cars and trucks.

Hello everyone! I ran into Buffalo in a Fry's parking lot and we talked shop for about 3 hours (aisle 10 next to register #1), he told me about the forum so I looked it up. I would like to come out and hang at the next Fudd outing but not this weekend of course. Thanks Buffalo for the heads up!

:welcome: We hold the Fudd's get-together on the second Saturday of the month, so the next one'll be May 9th. And when Joe's there, we're all usually talking in the parking lot for about an hour after Fudd's closes ;)

Buffalo - thanks for another recruit!

Hi GREENY,

Glad to see you on the site. I enjoyed talking to you at Fry's. When we parted, I had forgotten what I originally went to the store for!!!

Normally, I'm the QUIET type. You can ask Kgeiger81 (Kevin), if you don't believe me.

On another subject, I didn't mean to take people away from the meeting by suggesting the races at Manzanita Speedway, that night. It's just that, this is the VERY LAST race for that track. It's been around since 1951 & I have a lot of good memories, there. I just wanted to go to the last race & it appears that some of you folks want to, also. I'll look you up at the track.

For those that haven't gone to Manzanita, before, if you get hungry for mexican food, they have a green burro ($4.50) that has always been wonderful. I had one last Friday night & it was great. They have adult beverages (beer), also.

Once again, I didn't expect to steal folks away from the meeting. But, this will never happen, again, and the meetings will go on next month, & so forth.

ohhh yeah, the one you set up wasn't it?:S:
Hey, y'all agreed the second Saturday of the month would be the regular meeting long before I ever took over command of this wiley group of Cummins fanatics :D

This one's no good because it's Easter weekend and my family has been begging me for the last couple of years to go see their church's Easter presentation, so I'll be out of state :)

That's a pretty good idea.

I was wondering how long it was going to take you to think of it. :hehe:
