Hello All,
I decided to switch over from an edge comp box to a Quadzilla Adrenaline yesterday, and could not be happier about it. I have a 2000 2500 6spd 2500 that I have been working on for some time. I bought it with a 62/65/12 turbo, 150 hp injectors, and the comp box. This week I put in oversized injectors (7x.014) with the hope of going to compounds soon. Along with the injectors I put in head studs, pushrods, and valve springs. I soon realized that I was running wayyy too much fuel and could not control the smoke. My turbo spooled faster and the truck had more power overall, but I was unable to DD it. So I decided to go with the Quadzilla which I hoped would help me tune the truck a little better, defuel at a higher rpm (instead of paying another $100 for a hot unlock with the Edge), and be able to create a tune for the CNG injection I am running !My only hesitation going from the Comp to the Quad was the lack of a screen, so I decided to just buy a cheap tablet from walmart for $40 that is dedicated to the truck.
Install was a breeze and very similar to that of the Comp Box install. I mounted the main board on the fuse box cover and ran the main wiring harness along the plastic cowl. Ran the pump tap wire to the VP44, and decided to just use the positap that came with the kit instead of hooking into the spade connector that was there. Map sensor and data link connectors were straight forward. An EGT probe is included in the kit and can even set up some safety features based off of temps! I replaced my egt probe for my pillar gauge temporarily. I am going to tap another hole later on, but just wanted to get the Quad fully installed for right now.
The base tune that came on the Quad wasn’t exactly what I was looking for, so did a quick custom tune and was able to clean up almost all of the smoke. It is the cleanest my truck has ever run, even with my comp box off/smaller injectors. The tune I have right now, which I only fiddled with for 15 min, is the most power my truck has had. I still have a lot more I want to explore with the module, but am already extremely satisfied with it.
I came across an excel macro that was uploaded onto MoparMan’s website which allows you to map out multiple parameters and adjust tunes. I will be looking into it very soon and will report back!
