Hi everyone,
I was checking my 01 2500 for an oil leak this morning and saw what appears to be a frayed belt in one of the pulleys towards the front passenger side. Is this something to be concerned with? Also do you think it would be difficult to remove if so? Thanks! I've attached a couple pics.

Thanks for the reply guys! After taking a closer look it appears that the serpentine belt that is currently installed is in great shape. The frayed belt looks to be a remnant of an older belt that somehow got stuck in there. I don't see a way to remove the cover of that particular pulley to remove the frayed part though.

thats what it looked like to me to, may be able to grab it with needle nose and unravel it. As mentioned above keep a spare serp under the seat and check your wiring for possible damage from the shredded serp .

Thats the A/C compressor clutch, you probably wont be able to pull that apart. Id just go at it carefully with a pair of pliers and pull out what I could.

Thanks guys! I was able to do as suggested and get the frayed belt out with a pair of needle nose pliers and a knife. Good as new! Cheers
