Background - putting a 13" flywheel into an NV4500 w/ a previous 12.25" flywheel

The 13" flywheel has the teeth on the outer edge of the flywheel instead of in the middle like the 12.25" flywheel. As a result the 13" requires the starter spacer.

My question is, why or what is the justification or engineering reasoning behind placing the teeth on the 13" flywheel on the outside instead of the middle of the flywheel? :confused013:

It seems you could do away w/ the starter spacer if the teeth on the flywheel are moved closer to the center of the vertical plane of the flywheel.

It has to do with the bolts holes for the pressure plate, the oem countersink the holes and then thread them, with the ring gear in the middle theres not enough room for threads, the aftermarket usually run the threads all the way to the top.
