I think I have my truck sold here pretty soon, and will be purchasing my first Dodge, I have been reading a lot on here and have gathered quite a bit of knowledge, I am not new to diesels as I have had multiple work trucks which were diesel, but I was wondering what major drivetrain related issues some of you have, and what can be done to prevent, and what to expect?

I know I'm a noob on here, so don't give me too much hell, I'm just curious.

Main concerns are overall tranny life, fuel pumps and such, whats the best preventitive maintance and such...

Which years you looking at? And auto or manual? Thatll narrow it down to better answer your questions...

More than likely 04-07, and automatic more than likely....

go for the manual, you may hate it at first, but will be better in the long run..... :thumbsup:

i wish mine had a 6spd but after i get the cash to do the trans right i think i will like an auto. i have 120k on mine and the second trans so dont push the trans to hard. just my .02

Yeah, I just dropped close to a grand for a 4l60e in my Silverado, I don't like trannys that go out...., especially when you find one that seems to be good, and youswap it for nothing and it doesn't work....
