Me and my boss were noticing the other day that old blue doesn't seem to have the punch it used to a few years ago and that it really seems to just harass the torque converter if you stand on it. Turns out that there isn't any first gear. Put it in low range range and it still starts in second. Second and third gear and overdrive are normal. Adjusted the TV cable and now it really doesn't want to go out of second with the pedal to the floor but that's my fault. Fluid isn't burnt but you can tell the tranny has gotten a little warm we use the truck commercially. My guess is the governor pressure is too high or the valve body is bad but has anyone lost first but had all the other gears be good? Tranny was rebuilt at some point in time

Can you put the gear selector in 1 and it stays in 2nd? First gear is hard to tell on these trucks and at least for me most times when I’m in drive I have to be completely stopped for it to go back to 1.

Yeah we came to a complete stop and tried a few times to get it to go into 1st with the shifter. Just started in second
A few days ago I got it to go like once with it in 1 on the selector but I haven't been able to since. It has fluid in jt.

I would start with a fluid change and band adjustment.
