Why are you removing the head to install valve springs?
The guys down at II said that is a big pain in the:butt: with the head on so that made me think about doing the fire rings since the head was coming off. I talked to II and they quoted me 1500.00to fire ring the head, install my valve springs, new rocker studs(I don't know why I need those but they said that it is a good idea), and gaskets. I did some checking around and I found a guy 150 miles away that will fire ring the head, install my springs, clean up the valves, port and polish the exhaust side, and gaskets for 1200 he has got a good reputation and is also a cummins freak so I think that I am going to go that route just need to save a little more mooolah:$:

I also talked with a guy that was out @ the local drag strip (rocky mountian raceway) for the diesel power mag. diesel power challenge and even the guys with studs and fire rings were blowing head gaskets he said he had never seen that many heads torn off @ a diesel event ever so that makes me wonder if it is even worth doing if I am only going to be pushing 65lbs max right now ?

IMO, Install the studs and swap the springs without removing the head and call it a day.
you don't think that it is worth doing all that ?
