Just bought my first Smarty!! Cannot wait til it comes in!! So far my "new" truck is a lot better than my 99, as far as looks, comfort, and stock power goes, but I've been dying to increase the power on this thing. I've heard on here level 5 is probably the limit as far as the stock clutch goes, is this true? Just fuel or fuel with timing? Also what's the difference in the tunes with timing vs without as far as SOTP goes? Is it better throttle response or something else?

I believe level 5 was where I ran my smarty at when I had a stock transmission. It didnt last long though.
You technically can run Sw#9 on a stock tranny, it just depends on your driving habits. (There is no certain safe tune to run on a stock tranny) if you got a 48re I would just advance timing and not go above Sw#3 good luck bud.

Hes got a 6 speed, I was only giving an example.
We recommend SW 5 for a healthy clutch. They vary though. As mentioned, driving habits make or break. Your results may vary.
My stock clutch gave up at 55k miles with Smarty on level 3. I was not doing burn outs or anything, just 3/4 throttle in 6th gear - rpms start climbing and mph just stayed the same.

Every truck is different, but you should be planning for a clutch both $$ and finding a good shop to complete the install.
Yeah I know driving style is the main factor, just making sure. I'll be saving for an exhaust next and then clutch. Right now I'm thinking 5" exhaust and Valair dual disc organic. But who knows what I'll eventually decide on lol.

Smarty is fun. When you start really moding the truck get a doggle and have a tuner custom tune it with smarty UDC.
What's a doggle? Don't think I've seen that.

The dongle allows you to use the UDC software such that it can be downloaded to your truck. MADS Electronics - Smarty - User Defined CaTCHER - Download It allows you to modify the stock tune to your liking.

Oh ok. At what point would that be worthwhile? Right now the dream is twins, just a stock/475 set from like DPS, but I usually can't decide what I really want yet. Nothing wild just daily driving and towing our pontoon boat.

Congrats on joining the club  smarty is fun that's for sure :drool2: sw level depends on the driving habits. I ran sw9 for months and it hauled the mail no problem. Lent it out to buddy and 100' down the road the clutch was slipping and now its toast. All depends on how u drive. Don't even floor it below 2k rpm otherwise when the turbo lights the onslaught of torque will decimate a stock clutch in seconds. Nothing more than 1/2 throttle down low. Learn to drive by feel and ull b happy for a long time. Til u get greedy once :spank:
i ran mine on sw9 with no problems on stock clutch with 200xxx, until my rear main started leaking pretty bad, now it slips if you blow on the pedal, got my new southbend single disk wating for me in my living room though, cant wait to be able to get into it again
Actually forgot I started this thread lol. Got my Smarty last night, put it on level 5 this morning and so far it's AWESOME!! I honestly think I can go higher as far as power level and be ok on my clutch, but gonna wait til the weather gets a little better before I really start to play with it. One question though, do I have to download the REVO software to adjust Tq, rail pressure, wastegate and all that other crap or can I do it as is?

The Sr has that ability on it. Smarty Resource Updates This link has your info and downloads.
congrats on the purchase these tuners sure wake these trucks up!
It sure did. Think I ran into my first problem though. While finishing up our Christmas shopping, the wait to start light came on while I was driving. While the light was on, the door chime would also come on. Has anyone heard of this happening?

Indeed! Fueling issue!

Wait to Start light Guide
So should I just see what code comes up ? What kinda damage, if any, could I cause if I drive it to work and back tomorrow, which is like 15 miles total?
