With our 2003-2004 trucks without intank pump upgrade are you installing the 1/2" suction line to the tank module without upgrading the inner line? What is the size of line intake? Is there any concern with suction from 1/2" and drawing fuel from the small intake pickup. I still have the pump mounted by filter and I am wanting to get the FASS 95 just for reliability and filtration, but was wondering if I needed and 1/2" suction line in tank. Truck right now is has S&B intake and the 4" turbo elbow and 4" exhaust. After the fuel upgrade I will be only getting Smarty Jr so my Goal is around 400HP only.

I have an 04.5 with the filter mounted pump as well. Our pumps are known for going out due to heat and pulling fuel instead of pushing fuel. I have about the same mods that you do(nothing too fancy)and I have been looking at the Fass T150 vs the dreaded "factory" in tank replacement. The filters you suggested would work well but they don't have a pump and we will eventually need that.

For a little less $$ I could install factory in tank lift pump kit and install this The BEST Dodge Cummins Diesel Fuel Filter Kit Available and have 3 filters. Will this setup have any fuel concerns with 100hp JR.

In-tank pump will have no problem supplying enough fuel for 400hp.

Edit: and the 2 filter setup from worlds best cummins filter is pretty nice, looks professional. I pieced the same dual filter "kit" together and made my own bracket. It was much cheaper, but doesn't look as nice. Baldwin 1212 & cat 1r 0750.

I don't have the 1/2" in tank line, I have no issues. Also I bypassed the motor mounted lift pump with the fuel line supplied with the kit.

I thought for sure that 04.5 trucks came factory with the in-tank pump, and the 03/04 with filter mounted pump...I could be wrong though.

Thanks, I think this is the way i'm leaning towards, that way filters are easy to get, and cheaper, and the pump is also factory. I can also add a puller pump if needed up front later on.

I am one of the lucky 04.5's that still have the pump on the block. I have been told if you do any fuel adding mods, "factory" in tank pumps will have a much shorter lifespan even though they are rated to flow more fuel. Plus, the added benefits of the air removal and the water seperation with the Fass. It's about a wash cost wise but the Fass is an all in one, quality unit. Ok, I'm done. I sound like I'm on commission with them.

Just my .02 (i have an 02 24v), I have a sump in the fuel tank, and 1/2" lines everywhere, up to the injection pump. Can't have any draw straw issues, and the fass 150 is great. pressure always good, filters easy to change, but you still can't see it from the side of the truck. it's loud, but you can't hear it over the engine

I can go along with all that...exept that the in-tank pump is defiantly not junk. There is a gazillion of them on the road compared to fass pumps.

I would agree that they are not junk. They just aren't designed for consistent high flow applications for guys who are doing med-high mods. Perfect for stock-mild tune. I personally would rather over do it than push it to the limit and not have to drop the tank again and replace it with an out-of-tank pump. .02

My truck came with the pump on the filter, that pump was relocated to the tank by a dealer and I changed it to a Fass pump with a draw straw 5 kit from vulcan diesel. Other than dropping the tank it was pretty easy to do and works fantastic.

Is the stock intake pump go for 400HP or do I even need a FASS system. I will be also installing the 2micron CAT filter kit.
