I know there is a lot of info on the 1/2 & 1/4 issues with this set up and the modifying of the canisters. I don't want to rig up my canister nor put a sump in that's going to be under my tank possibly in the way. I contacted Fass and spoke to them about my concern. They said that the supplied Bulkhead and draw straw should be fine as long as the tank is supported correctly off of the ground when cutting the straw to length. I want to know if you guys had any personal experience with this. Am I on the right path or should I invest in something else. thanks

I did what fass is telling you to do. I dropped the tank and supported it with jack stands right were the straps are, put the bulkhead in and took my time cutting the tube. I made sure from tube to tank there was a gap of 1\8" or so. Tank was empty so I put maybe 5 gallons diesel in and primed it. Truck fired up, no issues. Fuel gauge was on empty, drove to fuel up fine.

sump FTW.. How in the hell could it get in the way LOL :)
Well my truck is no road princes. That being said I would hate to get my line coming from the sump to the Fass caught on something get ripped off and dump all my fuel out.. Or even yet a hater come by and cut the hose. Now a days anything can happen.

I've got the draw straw like those above, cut to the right length and have had no worries or problems. I run it till the light comes on usually and into the low K's on the DTE display. Those with 1/4 tank issues I believe are the result of improperly cut/installed draw straws (obviously). That being said, I don't think a sump is a bad alternative and I doubt you would get it caught on anything.Lots of guys have 'em without an issue......so:confused013:

Ok quick update. Got everything installed and plumed to the canister. One word of advise for first time users spray a little WD40 or some sort of lubricant up the water separator tube before you prime your system. The motor will not suck fuel without first lubricating it. I learned this the hard way.
