Exhaust sticks out too far...?

5810 Views 14 Replies 13 Participants Last post by  Syndrome
I have a 1st generation badp 5in turbo back exhaust kit and was wondering if you guys have the same problem with the angle of the end piece and tip?
Instead of coming out at an angle and pointing somewhat back away from the truck (kind of like a 45 degree angle) mine comes out right behind the rear tire and points directy at the cars door that is next to me on the road. I've notced in pics that some peoples pipes are sticking out at different angles.... Anybody else's truck like this?

It just depends on what make of exhaust a guy has. Different makes have different angles. My 5" is just like yours because we both have the BADP/Magnaflow kit.

That pipe comes long on purpose, you have to cut it back a bit to get the look that you want. I think it for those people that don't like a tip and its about right if you don't like a tip. I cut off about 8 or 10"s from mine

My Expandit 5" and my dad's (same kit and trucks), both weren't right...They said it was for a Quad/short-bed, but it was clearly for a Quad/Long-bed. I just installed it the best I could to get it to my local exhaust shop, had them cut and weld where need-be..and it looks great now! You should be able to get your local exhaust shop to cut and fit the way you like it for under $100 or so.

That's what I'd recommend doing.

Mine and my dad's both look better than if we had just pieces them together...b/c we could have the exhaust shop angle the tip, etc...the way we liked.

My five inch Silverline comes out at a 90 degree right behind the right rear dual. It was bad enough that driving at highway speeds it melted the corner of the mud flap that Texas requires. I had to go with aluminum diamond plate mud flaps to stay on the right side of the law.

Nice to see ya again Rovell, where ya been? Workin hard or hardly workin?

from what i remember my H&S was close to 90, maybe a little less, but since I had to cut a length off to fit the tip, I cut it in the bend which makes it come out at angle, looks good IMO. What bug me are the guys who dont cut when they do a tip and have the tip sticking way out.

mine comes out at an angle. But before I tinkered with it, like you said it shot straight out the side into little civic's windows. I have to spray the exhaust grey so it doesnt look goofy with the rust.
