Hello everyone, I am currently in the market for a truck and trying to decide between a 5.9 or a 6.7. but my question is, on the 6.7 is the exhaust brake integrated in the turbo? and if so does a regular exhaust brake like for a 5.9 work better than a turbo exhaust brake? i was leaning towards the 6.7 just for the factory brake, but if an actual exhaust brake would be better I may start looking at 5.9s. thanks guys

Yes the exhaust brake is integrated in the turbo on the 6.7's. I can't comment on it's effectiveness over an aftermarket exhaust brake because I've never used an aftermarket EB.

I have been told many of times that a aftermarket exhaust break is better but I have no issues with my factory one. Love it.

I added a BD exhaust brake to my 94 5.9 5-speed. It worked very well. The EB in my 6.7 works just fine. If you buy a 5.9 with an automatic trans, check with BD first for availability. I wouldn't own a diesel pickup without an exhaust brake.
