I'm wondering what the best performance exhaust and chip would be for my 2004 2500 diesel with the six speed manual trans. I'm really looking for fuel economy right now, not really puling anything yet.

Depends if its an early 04 or 04.5.

The year model matter more in regards to the exhaust, as they come with different sizes.

so how can I find out if it's the 04 or the 04.5 model? thanks

If it has a cat converter it is an 04.5. Also, check the sticker on the side of the valve cover. If it says 325 horsepower, its an 04.5. Anything else is an 04.
