hey guys, im getting ready to trade my 1995 3/4 ton dodge with new trans and motor for a 1996 2 wheel drive cummins, no rust no rot no nothing. its auto and the guy says it slips a little and i was wondering if it would be cheaper to have that trans rebuilt or if i could swap it out and drop a 5 speed in instead. time isnt an issue for me, we have our own lift and all and i really wanted a manual but what do you guys think? and could it possibly be the torque converter? it only has 145,000 on it and its a great truck and worth the trade. thanks

well the think with a 5 speed conversion is you will need to find every little peice and that might be hard and expensive. But if its what you want do it. My auto rebuild was around 3000 or so

expenses will also matter if your gambling on a used 5spd or a new rebuilt. used or new flywheel, id try to find a wrecked 5spd truck in a junkyard, is a 5spd the same tranny from a 2wd truck compared to a 4wd truck???(nv4500)
