Error code popped up, its a 06 Cummins 4x4 automatic. P1740 is the code. Whats awrong and how do I fix.

How is your transmission shifting?

Make sure it is full of fluid. I would clear the code and see if it comes back. If it does,I would say your converter clutch is slipping.

I just had my transmission rebuilt and since then I have had that same code come on. I cleared it and it just came on tonight again (4-5 months since the first time it came on). I'm thinking it's a solenoid because it will shift back and forth occasionally from 1st to 2nd if I'm going slow when I run it cold. I'm thinking that's what it is but the P1740 code says tcc or OD solenoid performance. The transmission is only 4-5 months old with all billet parts including a triple disk billet TC, so I can't see the TC being the problem.

The 1-2 "shift hunting" at slow speeds is a sticky governor pressure solenoid.
