pull the key out and lock the door with the key, not the fob. Unlock again with the key and try to restart. If you have no luck there, hopefully you have another key to try, as the truck is saying it doesn't recognize the chip in the key you are trying to start it with.

HOLY HELL dude... I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT... Thank you a ton brother. I had already drained my fuel tank and disconnected the lines thinking I was gona have to put a new pump in the tank. Never had a diesel until I bought this one a month ago, still getting use to them. But thanks a bunch man!! But wonder why the start ups take so long?? thats why ive been thinking this whole time i had a fuel issue...??

If you have no luck with that the lift pump on the back of the fuel filter housing may be on its way out. They are a weak design that typically crap out around 90K or so. see if you have a little black cylinder mounted to the back of your fuel filter housing. When the lift pump goes typically you'll get a P0628

I looked and did not see anything. Its just the fuel filter canister with fuel lines going up to it. So would it be in the tank? I was told if I have a fuel pump then I dont have a lift pump? So many ppl seem confused and unsure about this because this is around the time they started putting the lift pumps in the tank. What can I do to check it, fuel pressure gauge test at a shop??

The 03-04 models came from the factory with a fuel pump on the back of the fuel filter canister. Chrysler found out they were prone to failure and moved the lift pump to the tank. Any trucks that had a lift pump failure under warranty were equipped with a retrofit kit to move the lift pump into the tank.

If it is original, it will be on the back of the filter housing.

If it has failed previously it will be in the tank (in which case it is unlikely it has failed again unless you have something like 250-300K miles).

Yeah it must have failed before because there in nothing on the back of the fuel filter canister. And yes my truck has 218,000 miles on it. So it might be likely that it has failed or failing? I did however open the drain to the fuel filter canister and drain out the diesel. Then turned on the key to make sure it was pumping good up to the engine. I left the drain open and it poured out the bottom. So I assume that its pumping enough fuel up to the engine.

Just put a new one on it last week. When you told me yesterday to lock and unlock the door with the key and then crank it, it worked. I run to town and got dinner and came back home. This am when I went out to go to work, it was doing the same thing. I tried for like 20 mins to get it started. Locked and unlocked the door prob fifteen times, no luck. So its sitting at the house and I had to bring my girlfriends car.. haha
