Hey Guys
07 c&c...
Does the EB work right from the get go???? or does the truck or trans temp need to warm up before it will engage? The reason I am asking is today it was 11 degrees when I left the house, truck was running with the EB engaged for about 10 min with the fast idle on ( 1000 rpm ) warming up. I got in and noticed that going down the road the EB did not work for about 4 miles????? Is that somthing to be concerned with??? Truck only has 8k miles on it and the 3/36 warranty is over in two weeks.:confused013:

Turbo was never drilled and cleaned..
Thanks for the input.

Exhaust Brake

My 06 Has To Have The Transmission A Little Warmed For It To Lock Up. Otherwise It Acts The Same As Yours.

I think the 6.7 is different than the 5.9

can you elaborate a little more on what you mean when you say it doesnt work? the EB doesnt work when driving unless the torque converter is locked up...with it being that cold, the tranny will keep the tc unlocked to aid in warming it/ the fluid up. That sounds likey to be what is going on if I understand you correctly

Thanks ....I think that makes sence...so if the trans is cold... untill it warms up the EB will not work. Thats what is happing .... It did it the last 3 days and it starts working all most in the same spot on my road.

its not that it wont work until the truck warms up...if you sit it in your driveway in park, the eb will kick in...the EB function only engages the slow the vehicle down if the torque converter is locked which the tranny prevents from happening if the fluid in the tranny is below a specific temp...65* possibly? Im sure someone will correct me on that point.

I wonder if the tranny will allow tc lockup quicker if you shift into tow haul??

This Aisin is my first auto tranny in a couple decades. I don't know when the T/C is locked and not. :confused013: How can I tell? Does it only lock in 6th gear? Maybe my lightbulb just came on.
So, when I let off the pedal at say 60mph, I hear and feel the eb engage and slow me to 40 mph. Then transmission downshifts, or is that unlocking T/C still in 6th gear? EB engages again and stays engaged until around 25-30 mph, then shuts off and transmission downshifts another time or two, depending on how much brake applied.

Generally, it locks shifting into 5th at approx 46mph. (i kno if im wrong someone will pipe up)
I have noticed that if Tow/haul is engaged, it will sometimes lock up as low as 2nd gear...at least in my truck

easy way to tell if TC is locked, let off throttle. IF rpms stay about the same, TC is locked. If they plummet down to idle speed, its still unlocked

Well to day I tried with the Tow/haul on........ that did not make it warm up any faster.
Still takes about 4 miles to warm up....
