Hi all,

So lately here in NE Oklahoma its been in the teens to 20's at night. I generally let my truck idle for about 2 minutes before taking off. I have noticed a big puff of white smoke when I take off initially. When I let it sit to idle, I put it in high idle, 1100 rpm. I noticed the other day when I climbed in the truck my egt was only at 254 degrees. Shouldn't that be a little higher than that? I'm guessing because of that the cylinders are getting loaded up with diesel thus the white smoke. Anyone know why this is happening?

I just replaced all 6 injectors about 1,500 miles ago with new Bosch motorsports. Thanks in advance for the insight.

Well it could be condensation. . Take a whif of it next time. Mine does this when it's under 20 out. But I know on mine it's not unburned fuel.

White smoke is heavy and kind of lingers.
Condensation drifts away and evaporates quickly.

Seems like I lingers a bit. I have checked all the usual stuff and nothing abnormal, however the low egt is really what's got me wondering. I had found in another thread that 350ish was the norm at idle. 254 does seem pretty low.

What were your coolant temps at? I know when I first fire my 6.7 up and it's cold it'll barely get over 200 until I either idle it up or engage the exhaust brake... And even if I idle it up it doesn't go up very much... I never had an EGT gauge on my 06... But I know it'd puff white and n start up even when warm.. And when cold it'd be a little bigger and cycling of the grid heater till she warmed up a bit...

And my coolant temps were generally 10-15 degrees above the outside temperature.
