have approximately 3 years in Dec./24,000mi unplugged have only 27700mi on odometer. Numerous times plugging it back in for dealer visits. No major issues. Minor(from my point of view) issues, 1. cold starts - engine will hiccup a little just at startup. almost like its starving for air but, after a second or two it idles normally. 2. mild power loss - due to ECM using a different fuel map because reads the EGR malfunction. 3. Timing rattle during regen(sounds like a can of marbles) - post J35 not happening as much or for as long.

My truck has 106,000+ KMs on the clock. The EGR was unplugged at 10,000. The hick-up on cold start is there, other than that the truck has more throttle response and delivers about 2 more MPG. It is stock except for a gutted intake tube and a 4" hole in the bottom of the air box.

compared to the egr plugged in, yes it takes longer to warm up. no issues with cold weather. have you been through a winter with this truck yet? if not, then you'll notice the lights and voltage, dim and fluctuate. its the grid heater and will kick off when the engine warms up. <== still does this with the EGR plugged in or out doesn't matter. just a little extra info.

yes ive been through 1 winter with this truck.i have it plugged in at home but when im at work[14 hrs] its not and at sometimes over -25 below,i dont want any problems.it always fired right up last winter.would like to get a lil better fuel mileage in the winter or on camping trips.i drive a 91 junker metro to and from work most the time.very dependable though, but not a winter or snow car.[53 mpg avg.]so i guess i unplug tommorrow unless some people have had negative effects from unplugging the egr.i also have the j-35 flash.so far a lil over 9k and no problems, i really enjoy this truck.

Other than the little chug right after the cold start, I do not see any difference in the warm up. I do turn on the Exhaust Brake right after start up and run it at all times.

I've had mine unplugged just for a few thousand-about a month. Takes forever to warm up, it's been about 28-30*f in the mornings. I haven't seen an increase (maybe a decrease!) in mileage, though. But if it's healthier for the motor, I'll fork out a could extra bucks every week on fuel.

another factor in the mpg arena is that the winter fuel is coming and will keep the mpgs down so if you currently have winterized fuel you may not see much of an increase in mpgs

ya im pretty anal on hand calculating fuel mileage on all my stuff.just one thing on the oh i match it with the hand calc.the most it was ever off was 1mpg and normally only about .2 or .3 mpg off.thought that was strange considering what others got.well shes unplugged and running fine but the oh is going nuts, from 17mpg to 22.3.so maybe it will settle down after awhile.i would be very happy w/2-3 mpg increase.thanks for your help.
