I knew that would get some attention:lol4: We always see on here how Smarty is the best blah blah blah, and the edge gets bashed! Last saturday i dynoed with the mods in my sig... 537 HP ez on 3 edge on Hot..what do you make of that?

Very impressive. On the 04.5 which you and I both have the hot unlock adds an advertised 180 hp. Which is more than the 170 Smarty advertises. What was your torque?

On a side note, you have a dually. (Check sig)

Ha Ha thanks guys, we all know the smarty rocks and the numbers this weekend seemed very good but who knows. I only got one pull so i didnt get to try anything different. They tryed loading it and it blew throught the clutch, then loaded above the torque peak at like 2000rpm i think so it only made 991ft lbs so the clutch held but its junk now.

take the EZ off and your at 475hp, i had the juice/a also it was ok at that time.
Not everybody has your kind of money. Imagine if his clutch held....... the numbers would have been higher.

Hey guys, I've had my truck since 03 and I'm approaching the end of my warranty. My truck is HO 305 HP bone stock except for 285/75 tires. She has 373 , not the 410 gears.....truck has 85,000 and runs great.....I'd like to have some adjustability in trying to get better mileage sometimes and maybe more muscle sometimes...I know next to nothing about what's involved on tuning....what is the most user friendly between the Edge and Smarty?...which is the most affordable?..transmission is stock and shifts great....I know I can't go overboard because the tranny won't live....I'm getting ready to install a muff delete....dealer just installed the retro tank lift pump....I guess I should buy some guages first....I'd like to add to my stock motors performance......don't want to get into buying injectors, turbo, pumps...etc.....:hehe:.....Now that I think about it....I'll bet a lot start like this!.....:drool2:

My advice would be to get an Edge Juice w Attitude used out of the classified section. If you can find one with the HOT unlock, bonus. But, the stock trans won't like it if you beat on it at that level, so keep it turned down to 3 or 4 most of the time.

at the levels you describe, given my truck w/ muff delete what can I realistically expect.....would it be clearly noticeable improvement....and should the tranny live?....can any mileage improvement be had from the unit if the right foot is kept light?

Yes the difference in power is very noticeable. The difference in MPG's will be small. Going more than 60 horsepower to stock is asking for trouble if you beat on it but there is no reason you can't roll on levels 4 or 5 if you are smart about it. If I were you I would get the Edge used like I said, and then get a good aftermarket valvebody from a reputable company such as Goerend, HTS, or DTT. These will greatly increase your line pressures and help your trans live a longer life. They are "only" $400 to $500 dollars and you should be able to swap it out yourself, as it is located just above your trans fluid pan.

the valve body swap......no drilling on the case side is there?....any drilling on the valve body itself or ......for 4 to 500 it's a bolt in....LOL.....but level 4 or 5 now just rolling into it should keep things from breaking for now and be noticeable and enough to get me hooked.......:whip:....why is it I read in the classifieds you said to look at that a guy was saying guys are getting away from the Edge/Attitude....any truth or smoke?

When you buy a modded valve body it is a bolt in swap. Don't forget though you have to remove the pan and the fluid will also come out.

Some guys are getting away from the Edge Juice but not everybody. I have had mine for 3 years now and like it a lot. Some people do consider the Edge Juice to be a "beginner" box. There are other boxes like Bully Dog, Smarty, and TST which can provide more power and more tuneability than a Juice can out of the box. Keep in mind though, the Juice, with all of its gauges, safety backdowns, and adjustability on the fly, is one of the most well rounded boxes you can buy. There is a thread on here somewhere where a poll was taken to see what boxes people are running and last I checked, the Edge had the most users.

Believe me when I tell you that with a modded valvebody and an Edge JwA you will knock a couple seconds off your 0 - 60 time. I did it in 7.0 seconds with the Juice on 4.

Then I built my tranny, turned the Juice to 5, turned the MP-8 all the way up, and did it in 4.7.

THANKS for the replies!....sounds exactly what I'm looking for. ....I like a little safety....Is it difficult to set things back to stock if it has to go to the dealer in these last 15k miles?

You have to unplug the Juice. It takes about 10 minutes. But then you are left with the EGT probe still under the hood, which is quite suspicious. Some dealers wont care though.

If the dealer looks hard, they will probably be able to detect that you were running the truck outside of stock paramiters

Hey, thats exactly what I just layed down the Sat. before last. :headbang: Although I think that it defueled at about 2700 rpms, there is a dip in both hp and tq before they shut it down. I was impressed with those numbers. I didnt think that it would make even close to that.

so the edge ez is a pressure box kinda like the mp8???
also would the floor it bag of parts help out alot with a pressure box>?

first i was just trying to compare edge and smarty as edge never gets much respect in the most HP comparisons so i just wanted to show they deserve some credit, i realize they are very different. Second i didnt get to sit in the truck so i dont know the egt/boost so on but i can tell you i have a hard time getting this truck hot without a trailer on. The ez is a rail pressure box and supposedly one of the more mild ones as its only 65hp in the high setting but i dont have any pressure gauges. The mp-8 and the dr.p seem to be the more popular and accepted as the best units, so my ez probably makes a bit less power but has a bit less pressure. What i dont like is you cant turn it off as with the mp-8 i think you can dial it all the way down...i would prefer that adjustability.
