but the truck used and didnt have egt probe. finally getting around to installing it. i understand drilling and tapping manifold but were does the red adn yellow wire go?
no intent to hijack your thread,,, im doing the same thing and what is the best place for the probe,,, the book puts it in where 1,2,3 cyc. exhaust's but since 5 or 6 run the hottest would it be better there............Thanks for your help
you drill it where the exhaust manifold meet the turbo flange, and yes put it on the back side where the 4/5/6 exhaust cylinders would flow out through.
I bought my truck used. It allready had an EGT probe but it was mounted after the turbo.Whats the difference of after the turbo as oppose to on the exhaust manifold. Will the temps be off?
As you can see, there is a 350 degree difference at the upper end of the scale. Based on this, I would try to keep the post readings at 900 or less if that was the only reading I had. I used to push it to 950 and a little higher when towing which put me up at 1300 degrees. Sure glad I put the new unit on as it is a much more realistic reading!
i have mine between the 2-3 cylinders, the write up stated that it qwould read hotter in that location, go figure. it runs around 600 while driving on the freeway.
