looking for a mild tuner for my 01. its all stock other than a cold air intake and 4in exhaust. its still got a stock trans so I don't wanna go nuts but I want a little boost in power/mileage. I see lots of good things about the edge but I cant find much on the vivid linq. the edge makes more power but the vivid links to your android and can scan codes and a bunch of other stuff. does anyone have any experience with the superchips unit? thanks

p.s. im new here so if this should go in the powertrain section just let me know thanks

First of all, welcome to the forum! You'll find lots of good info here. If you're looking for more info about these programmers, just do a quick search and you can find tons of pages about this. As for me, I've heard lots of good things about the edge ez, but I've not heard of anyone with the other one you mentioned. BUT, before you do any type of performance upgrade, you gotta ditch your stock lift pump and go with one that can provide enough fuel to your vp to keep it happy! FASS or Airdog are some of the more popular brands. Just do some reading on here and you'll know what I mean. Also get yourself some gauges, at least a fuel pressure gauge so you can keep an eye on how much fuel your injection pump is getting. It won't last long if it doesn't get enough fuel through it.

After researching all I have done, and I got lots more to do, I would skip the power boost mods you currently have in your head and go straight for an aftermarket lift pump. The stock OEM lift pumps are really terrible and I am in the process of getting a FASS now and my truck is bone stock. After reading all the horror the stock lift pumps do, it isn't worth doing anything to the truck until you can upgrade your lift pump first. I think some say the water/air separator units give a bit better mileage by themselves.
Sorry I didn't add before but gauges was the first thing I did when I bought the truck and the new lift pump is getting ordered today. I was going to wait but my fuel pressure has begun to drop out so I figure I may as well do the tuner too. As far as searching goes I can't really find anyone that's running the vivid. Google usually brings me here when I search that stuff but so far I'm only coming up with places to buy it.
