I currently have an EFI Live CSP5 chip in my truck. Also have an Edge Insight CTS 3 for monitoring, no tunes on it. They were installed before I bought my truck. Also have a Smarty JR, which came with the truck when i bought it in a box, not plugged in. I am not familiar with chips, tuners, ect. I want the EFI gone because neither I or the guy that had truck before knows what tunes are on the chip. That bothers me. Is the EFI chip vin locked? Do i need to do anything to ECM after i take it off? The Smarty is VIN locked, so I either use it or throw it away. I could also put Edge Juice on the Insight. Anyways, mostly wondering how to go about taking the EFI off the truck. Thanks.

Vin locked smarty is basically junk, I think there is services to unlock it it but IDK how they work. It’s a fine tuner for stock with ME, but I wouldn’t use it if I had a Efi live.

Edge Insight CTS 3 is just a monitor, a good one too. No tunes for it, the edge “evolution” is the one that also does tuning, those are junk thought TBH. Keep the insight as a monitor, it’s one of the best. Unless you want mechanical gauges instead.

EFI live with the 5 switch is pretty much ideal if you have one that’s working for our gen truck. They are harder to get now days. It’s likely best option to just keep it if it’s working. Safe to assume level 1 is stock or damn near it and 5 is wild. When towing turn it too 1 and don’t worry about it. Do some testing to find what number you like best driving unloaded. Level 4-5 will likely net you the best unloaded MPG if you drive it right. Ditching this setup would be foolish IMO. Why would you “downgrade” your tuner? Just to know the theoretical HP numbers?

I’m assuming this truck you bought is missing emission components. Careful, if you mess up the tuning you could be stuck with a dead truck.

Are you sure the SmartyJr is locked?
Is it locked to your truck?
Even so there are people who can unlock it for around $100.

As for EFI, it is better than the Smarty tunes but if you really want to get rid of it then (if necessary) unlock the Smarty, load the appropriate tune on it and load it onto the truck.

Kinda going backwards but it's your truck.
