First of all, I need a driver side window...and the little metal piece that attaches to the bottom so the power window regulator will roll back and forth.
Now, I will tell you the story.

I was visiting my Uncle today with my two boys and when we got ready to leave, I strapped the little one in his car seat anw d put my other in the truck. When I shut my driver's side door, the window blew out. The safety glass did not chunk up as it is designed and a large piece fell down onto the top of my hand cutting it pretty bad. Thank God it happened while I had some help with my boys.

I used to work out quite a bit, so I have pretty large blood veins. The shard of glass fell perfectly on the large vein running between my first and second finger right in the top of my hand. I bled like a stuck pig. Heart beat = blood shot to dash..... I saturated the left pants leg on a great pair of Carhartt pants and the floorboard of my truck, scared the he11 out of my six year old, and my 14 month old sat their calm as can be. (Great Kids)

I found out the track on the bottom of my window had rusted off and caused the regulator to slap against it when I shut my door = epic fail.

I do not think the glass that was in our 1st gens is the type of glass that chunks up. Because I had my back window shadder about a year ago. When I had to drive my parents washing maching to the dump and someone in front of me slammed on their brakes for no reason at all! And I had to slam on my brakes to avoid hitting this person! And when I did the washing machine (which I had laying down) slid foward so fast that it hit the front pannel in the bed and it dented it outward torwards the cab and it hit the cab so hard that it caused my back window to shadder! And when it shaddered it did not chunk up. But luckly I had my carhartt on a hat so it did not cut me. Sorry to hear about your hand it is a good thing you are ok! I do not think you can buy that piece that holds the window brand new.

Thanks ALL. Yeah, Thank heaven I am Okay... Hand hurts like crazy. Missing my old truck already. Had to pull the RT charger out... Don't get me wrong, the car is Bas A$$, but the my Old First Gen is just Cool.

I have spotted a parts truck tonight via telephone. I hope I can get the whole truck. There are a selected few parts I could use anyway. BUT, if I cant.. Be expecting a PM... Can't drive around with the wind hole open all the time. I really wish I could find a regulator assembly and the metal piece that attaches to the window... That would make my day.

Yeah they are safety glass. I broke a butterfly window in my 90 in march. It came out in chunks after. Then when I wrote it off there was branches smashing off the side window n non even cracked it.

Is this where you got the piece that holds up the window? If so what is it listed as? Can you post a link to it?

My drivers side window dropped the other day- when I pulled the door panel and looked- the metal channel that the glass is glue to is rotted. When crankin the window the entire channel flexed and the glue parted ways with the glass. I cleaned out what is left of the channel- removed the glue and blew out the channel with the air gun, then a applied some new adhesive and set the glass in place and let the 2 part adhesive cure.

So far it's good. I have window channels on my list for the next junkyard run. I know a yard that has a few dodges that I will need to check for some goodies.........

Got my new donor white door on my Red truck... LOL Had to transfer all my power window and door lock over but it was not a bad task. Now I need to go buy the passenger side white door to make it match! Plus my hand is starting to HEAL! Looks like crap, but healing nicely!

:confused013: Why didn't you keep your matching door and just swap out the glass mechanism assembly?? :confused013:

Because it had bad cancer in both bottom corners and a large whiskey bump under the mirror.
