I did the first oil change on my 4x4 96, and the plug was tight. I looked at the gasket afterwards, and it has some damage/tearing.

None of the auto parts stores around me carry one. I called the dealer, they don’t carry one, nor does any other parts departments around. I can order one and t it in days.

How many folks actually change their drain plug gasket regularly? From the sound of it, not many…

Thinking to replace it with a Gold Plug ap22. Anyone else run one?

Install a drain valve and never have to worry about overtorquing the plug or replacing the gasket ever again.

Roger on the drain valve suggestions. Maybe NAPA or local hardware has an o-ring selection you can use to make do.

Dorman makes both plastic and copper drain plug gaskets sold by size. Often found in red packs on the "Help" rack. Just take it into a GOOD parts store, or Cummins store with engine serial number for cummins store. Rubber o-rings are not appropriate.

Google is friend, see below pics 14 and 15, but pick correct size that will work.
