got the new issue of diesel power mag and i have been waiting for it for the 24v budget build section.

in the $5,000 dollar budget they say
gauges
lift pump
programmar/module
intake
exhaust
torque converter or clutch
injectors
62-64 mm turbo

they estiate this to make 450-500 hp.

they didnt mention a valve body or shift kit in there and i am now wondering with a geat reputible magazine with much expeirence, im now wondering if i got a tc, triple or single disk, a edge comp instead of ez, 100 hp injectors, and the 62 mm turbo, if i would be fine without the billet shafts. im not expecting mine to make 450-500 with my exhaust intake a comp 100 hp injectors and a 62/65/12 turbo. im thining i would probably be more around 350-400. Anyways, there is no real black and white answer for te question of how much you can throw at a stock tranny with a vb and tc but, if diesel power says tc and your good with smart driving, i dont have much reason to not believe them right??:confused013:

I'm about 380/830 on stock transmission and turbo. I'm more worried about the turbo than tranny.
Thanks you very much! :party018: great to hear from someone with basically the same mods i wanna do. how is the auto holdng to the power?? no vb or shift kit or tc?? what you run your attitude on mostly?? your gonna do a turbo soon, the he351? is that a good turbofor this setup? sorry for the million question.

I dont have it in front of me but doesnt it say something about the tranny in the weaknesses?
yes it does. it says weak links: tranny shafts, stock flexplate, head gasket.

i guess i should have added this. to make 450 500 hp, they must used big stick numbers cuz i will probably only make around 380. and with a turbo upgrade i imagen maybe only 25 more hp with turbo. so i would not be looking at the 450-500 number they are. Thanks mjd91 for clearing that up:thumbsup:

get a shift kit its cheap and works for mild upgrades cause if you get a TQ CONV and blow the tranny it usually will take out the conv. and VB

150's and a 62 makes 500 all the time.
But you will need a tranny to hold it.

My plans are to do the He351 Retrofit with my 100Hp Injectors since Patracy seemed to have good luck with it on his 150's. Then I'll work on my transmission, VB, TC and basically everything billet. I use this truck to tow on occasion but with my stock turbo I try and keep the weight down. After then transmission I plan on head studs and see about building a set of twins with the He351. I did look into a 62/71/12 but everywhere I see it doesnt really kick in till 1800 and with my 33's and 3.55's I run about 1850 cruising down the road. I want a low spooling turbo and not worried about top end cause only time I break 2300rpm's is when I dyno or race. I tow more than race so I dont want big injectors and such. As far as what I run on edge when I tow I'm on 2 but just daily drive I run on 5 all the time. All my responsiveness are set at max.

Last thing I towed was my tractor before this storm came to Oklahoma to fill it up with diesel and total weight of truck, trailer and tractor was 12500. Transmission acts and shifts fine, Egt's will get up there if I lay into it but if I just "push" it I never break 1200.

I have always wondered if I did get a special truck cause I'm on original Vp at 168k and my stock tranny has held the Edge for a good 20,000 miles. Half of that was on 3 and other half on 5 with 3 dynos and about 8 runs down the drag strip.

Yea, I sat around for a good few months tellin myself full or just few mods then got talkin to a friend who rebuilds trannys in spare time and said if something small goes the whole thing goes so either "go big or go home"

PS Dieselfurry I got a AD150 and love it, I got Edge for my birthday only to find out I had 5psi Idle and 0psi at WOT so bought AD150 next day and installed day after I got it

Maybe i should rephrase,
Good 150's and a 62 makes 500 all the time.

FBD injectors are great for most people that want a little extra kick but when your looking for a top of the line injector I would look elswhere.

Yea, after you said I need LP I seen my sig didnt have it. I dont have Stage 6 on my Edge and really dont want it since I never really break 2300rpm's except racing and dyno. I've seen few places that you lose Hp/Tq on Stage 6 but gain Smoke and Rpm's?

then who makes a good big injector other than F1 ?

probably dumb question, but like goerends converter with lifetime warranty, it would not be covered if the input shaft broke it, only if it was a converter failer im sure???

How long did it last, what happened to it? (I see your sig says you got a suncoast trans) Any advice to someone still running a stocker? Or can we not escape the truth, that its going to blow up eventually.
