I am in search of the back cover of the timing gear cover.
The Dreaded Dowel Pin dropped out and was sitting in the bottom of the case. Timing Gear is good.

hi i dont have a gear case or nothin for ya but i was wondering how many miles your truck had when the pin fell if you dont mind me asking.

118K - heard this grinding noise, like a rock in a brake rotor

Sometimes the case can be welded.
Check ebay also.

mine had 130000k when it went i found a case brand new on e bay 24 valve p pump conversion case and it bloted right up no problems it was even tapered so the pin couldent fall out again it cost me 220 buck way better then the cummins price

I've seen pin fall out all the way from 42k miles to just over 500k miles.
Miles has nothing to do with when the pin might fall out, it can happen anytime.
Wise people take care of it.
