Has anyone here used a double din radio for quadzilla gauges?
some have tried. it doesn't usually work very well. not that the phones work well either. bluetooth was never a perfectly reliable standard, and the connection issues to the iquad make it worse.

Also android auto and apple car play are not compatible with iquad app.

I have the same Sony radio in my 96, it just sticks out a bit but requires NO cutting of plastic and can be reversed or updated in minutes. Very happy with this choice

With a little work you can do a Ipad instead of a double din

I mentioned earlier that I chose to install the Alpine F309 instead of trying to install a double din and thought I'd post a pic. I'm very happy with it even though it sticks out in front of the dash a inch or so. It is a massive 9" display which I love. Installation was straightforward and love Carplay and it doesn't block anything else on the dash. I've purchased the accessory to allow a additional screen to show light switches, etc but haven't found time to install it yet. Just another option if you don't want to hack the bezel up but still want more of the features a double din offers.

Holy Crap that is large, and expensive. Here I am wanting to get away with a $200 CarPlay receiver…

You cant connect your phone to the factory radio without wires going everywhere.
You cant play DVDs,
Cant watch YouTube vids
Cant access GPS thru factory radio
All things can be done keeping the factory radio, but you would have to buy a bunch of add on stuff...seperate GPS seperate 12v DVD player, etc.
When it is cheaper, more efficient and cleaner to just install a double-din.

my note 4 sits right in front of the gauge cluster, and does all of that flawlessly....minus a dvd.

Expensive? Yeah, probably. Depends on how you look at it. Had this truck for 21 years. Never made a payment on it since I had a trade-in and paid cash for the balance. Have you seen the window sticker for a 2019 Cummins with the Nav package? I'm old now too and need that 9" screen to see. Carplay is all worth it IMO. Good luck.

I bought the Pioneer AVH-3400nex. Fry's had a special for $300. The downside is it blocks my vents with the flip up screen. Has anyone tried to use heat or something to bend down the dash bezel so it doesn't look so bad if you have one of the wood trim ones? I like this radio but man i miss those vents in summer so I have to retract the screen :(

I run my Quadzilla on my kenwood double din all the time here is a pic of my double din instal with the Quadzilla being displayed.
Also I read very often of people having issues with connection using the Bluetooth and androids. Makes me very glad I went with WiFi and iPhone instead.
I don’t ever have connection issues the most that happens to me (not very often) is when I turn off the truck and I go to turn truck back on my iPads not connected anymore. I just Gota click the home button hit the quad app again n bam it starts updating the peramiters for the tune.

Nice how did you do it? I'm thinking of using heat to try to bend my wood grain bezel to help it look less hacked. I have a Pioneer AVH-2440NEX on order and it's a full double din.
