Just curious but does anyone's plastic ring around the ignition key illuminate? It looks like it should. :confused013:

if I remember correctly, pull the 2 plastic covers off the steering wheel column, and you will see the ring and where the light bulb is

Depends on the model of the truck. Like my 1996 Dodge Ram has the clear plastic ring that lights up and on my 2002 Dodge Ram its a black plastic ring that doesn't light up. I would say its part of the high line package of the center timer.

Interesting..... I removed the plastic covers off the column years ago to see if the bulb was burnt out and to my surprise there was no bulb. I dont think there was any anything in there relating to a bulb.

I think the wire is there in most trucks, but not all have the bit in the column. ther eis a timer for it in the forward side of the in cab fuse box, silver , taller, and narrower than the blinker doodads, and it gets pretty warm. My truck didn't have it, but I put in an older lower miles column, and it worked.
